China: Post-disaster recovery underway in Yunnan following Myanmar earthquake

Intensive recovery and reconstruction efforts are underway in southwest China's Ruili on the border with Myanmar, after a powerful 7.7-magnitude earthquake that jolted the Southeast Asian nation on Friday damaged 847 residential homes in the Chinese city. Ruili, located in Dehong Dai and Jingpo Autonomous Prefecture of Yunnan Province, is about 300 km away from the epicenter. According to sources from the Ruili municipal government, strong tremors injured two people and affected 2,840 people in the Chinese city. In response, the local authorities have deployed a task force for disaster relief, monitoring geological hazards, inspecting water conservancy projects, repairing electrical facilities, and carrying out emergency road maintenance. The city government has prepared emergency relief supplies such as tents, quilts and food for those affected, as it assesses the extent of the losses suffered by local residents. The video shows: 1.
