Khartoum, Sudan - March 31, 2025 A Sudanese family lived in the Burri area of Khartoum under the control of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) for two years, enduring severe hardships due to the lack of electricity, water, and the widespread security breakdown. They suffered from looting, threats of murder, and other abuses, including those committed by the RSF. The family also witnessed numerous killings of civilians, cases of rape, and other violations carried out by the RSF against the residents of Burri. This is an interview with a Sudanese woman inside her home, where she talks about celebrating Eid for the first time in two years after the Sudanese army regained control of the area. She describes the difference between Eid during the RSF’s occupation of their neighborhood and after the Sudanese army took over.
