A pet owner had to rescue his cat when it was stranded on a muddy riverbank.

The two-year-old feline named Meetang was heard crying by resident Nakarin Sangphet, who rushed to the back of their home to help it in Saraburi, Thailand.

Footage shows the moggy struggling to move in the thick sludge near fishing boats.

The white cat waded through the dirty water but was soon calmed down by Nakarin.

However, Meetang returned to swim in the water when it saw a flock of ducks, so Nakarin had to go into the water to take it back to land on March 25.

Nakarin said, 'Meetang is friendly and likes to be around ducks. But sometimes, our cat swims in the water to follow them, and we have to save it.'
