3 dead and 16 injured by falling tree while preparing for Eid prayers in Indonesia.

A tragic tragedy, 19 worshipers became victims of a fallen tree while preparing for Eid prayers on Monday morning, March 31, 2025 in the courtyard of the grand mosque of Pemalang Regency, Central Java, Indonesia.

3 worshipers died after being hit by the large tree, while 15 others were injured, and 1 other worshiper was in critical condition.

The victims who died were Rasmono (42 years old) and Anita (39 years old), and Rasmani (70 years old) who died after receiving intensive medical assistance but his life could not be saved.

The 15 injured victims were Hernanda (24 years old), Tarmuji (52 years old), Tarno (60 years old), Apsin (65 years old), Mursinah (65 years old), Dwi J (31 years old), Sumarni (45 years old), Galang (10 years old), Sugeng (42 years old), Anggo (25 years old), Ika (30 years old), Eva (7 years old), Ellin (49 years old), Nurlinda (15 years old), and Rini (42 years old).

Meanwhile, one person was in critical condition, namely Titi (68 years old).
The Head of the Pemalang Police Resort, Assistant Commissioner of Police Eko Sunaryo, said that the fallen tree incident not only claimed the lives of 3 people, but also injured 15 other people and 1 more person was in critical condition.

"We have evacuated all the congregation to the hospital, 3 of whom died, one victim is in critical condition, and 15 victims suffered minor injuries," said Eko when confirmed.

Eko explained that the chronology of the fallen tree in Pemalang district that killed three people occurred when the congregation was preparing to perform Eid prayers.

Suddenly a large tree fell at 06.20 West Indonesia Time (local time) and hit the congregation.

The dead and injured victims were then rushed to the nearest hospital for further treatment.

After evacuating the victims, the Pemalang Police Criminal Investigation Unit was deployed to the location to conduct a crime scene investigation.

The fallen tree in Pemalang was then evacuated by a joint team consisting of the police, army, regional disaster management agency, electrical personnel, rescue teams from the fire department, the Health Service, and the Environmental Service.

"We also placed a number of personnel to divert traffic flow during the evacuation," explained Eko.

It is known that the fallen tree occurred when the congregation of the Grand Mosque was about to perform Eid prayers.
