Russia destroys Ukrainian drones in Kursk as pressure increases on Zelensky
Russia destroyed Ukrainian drones in Kursk as pressure increased on President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Officials reported that over the past week, pyrotechnics experts from Russia's Ministry of Emergency Situations (MChS) destroyed two Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles.
In the Kursk region, MChS employees neutralised and eliminated five explosive objects, including two strike drones equipped with damaging elements. Locals discovered these objects in agricultural fields across the region.
Dramatic footage shows authorities destroying the items remotely in controlled explosions.
Since the introduction of the legal counter-terrorism operation (KTO) regime in the Kursk region, MChS specialists have made nearly 300 trips. In total, they have neutralised over 2,070 explosive objects.
Russian troops are nearing the expulsion of Ukrainian forces from their position in Russia's Kursk region, which they seized last August and have held for over seven months of intense fighting.
President Vladimir Putin recently visited Kursk, signalling confidence that Russia is close to reclaiming the region. He instructed his top commander to 'finish the job quickly'.
Ukraine's top army commander, Oleksandr Syrskyi, stated that Kyiv's forces would continue operations in Kursk as needed, with fighting ongoing around the town of Sudzha.
Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, in what the Kremlin is still calling a 'special military operation'.
The conflict is still ongoing with public support from Europe and the United States fading and businesses reopening their ties with Russia.
Deserters have fled both countries for safer climbs in Europe and Asia.
