Plane crashes into home killing everyone onboard in Minnesota
A plane crashed into a home, killing everyone on board in Minnesota.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reported that the SOCATA TBM7 plummeted in a residential area in Brooklyn Park on Saturday, March 29, around 12:20 pm.
Fire crews and emergency responders rushed to the scene after the incident sparked a fire in the house. Firefighters discovered aircraft debris scattered inside as they battled the blaze.
Officials said the fire was controlled within an hour of their arrival.
Brooklyn Park Fire Chief Shawn Conway noted that authorities do not believe anyone on the plane survived the crash. The exact number of people on board remains unknown, but the aircraft was capable of carrying up to six people.
Dramatic footage shows the residence engulfed in flames as residents watch from a distance. Authorities later advised them to back away from the burning home.
All residents of the home and first responders escaped unharmed.
The FAA reported that the plane had taken off from Des Moines International Airport in Iowa and was bound for Anoka County-Blaine Airport in Minneapolis.
Audio recordings from Anoka Air Traffic Control revealed two warnings to the pilot about flying too low. The aircraft crashed just eight miles short of its destination.
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) stated: 'NTSB is investigating the crash of a Socata TMB 700 aeroplane on March 29 near Brooklyn Park, Minnesota. The preliminary information we have is the plane impacted a residence and experienced a post-crash fire.'
The NTSB is expected to release a preliminary report on the crash in around two weeks.
