Heartwarming footage shows Russian and Chinese firemen saving a woman stuck in rubble following the Myanmar earthquake.

The survivor was rescued from under piles of concrete after being trapped for more than two days. She was located by search dogs from the ministry's canine unit and was pulled to safety after an eight-hour operation.

The US Geological Survey said the magnitude 7.7 quake struck at a depth of 10 kilometres (six miles) around 50 kilometres (30 miles) east of Monywa.

Residents ran from their homes when they felt the tremors at around 1:20 pm local time. In Myanmar, at least 1,600 people were killed and more than 4,000 injured.

The quake destroyed buildings, bridges, and dams, leaving many areas in ruins. Communication remains difficult as mobile networks are down, and access to electricity and the internet is limited.

In neighbouring Thailand, high-rise buildings shook and an apartment block under construction collapsed in Bangkok. At least 17 workers were killed.
