US, Phoenix: Phoenix Suspect Crashes After Fleeing From Police
Phoenix, United States - April 01, 2025 04/01/2025 02:55 am (GMT-0700) PHOENIX, Ariz. – A Phoenix police officer observed a speeding red Dodge Charger near 43rd Avenue and Camelback Road around 1:50 a.m. The officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop on the vehicle as it traveled eastbound on Camelback Road. The vehicle refused to yield and quickly sped away from the officer. The officer notified the Phoenix Police Air Unit and nearby officers but did not pursue the suspect. At approximately 1:55 a.m., a Phoenix police officer near 26th Avenue and Camelback Road witnessed the suspect's vehicle crash into a concrete barrier on the Camelback overpass for I-17. Several patrol and K9 units converged on the vehicle and initiated a high-risk traffic stop. The suspect was ordered out of the vehicle at gunpoint. He was quickly taken into custody without incident. Phoenix Fire Department crews responded to the scene and evaluated the suspect. The suspect was transported to a local hospital for precautionary evaluation due to minor injuries sustained in the collision. Once medically cleared, the suspect will be turned over to the Phoenix PD and faces felony flight charges.
