VARIOUS OF PROTESTORS GATHERED IN FRONT OF PARLIAMENT BUILDINGSKOPJE, NORTH MACEDONIA - APR. 02, 2025: Hundreds of people rallied in Skopje, North Macedonia’s capital, pressing for an increase in the minimum wage. The Macedonian Union of Trade Unions led the demonstration outside the Parliament Building. Participants expressed discontent with the current 396-euro minimum wage and urged its raising to 500 euros. Unhappy with the government’s recent 30-euro wage hike, the crowd marched from the parliament to the Chamber of Commerce and the government building. One protester, Slobodan Trendafilov, emphasized their call for a minimum wage of at least 500 euros. Last week, the North Macedonian government set the minimum wage at 396 euros after approving a 30-euro increase. Labor unions criticized the decision, arguing for a 100-euro boost instead and promising further demonstrations. Economy and Labor Minister Besar Durmishi explained that the smaller raise complied with existing laws.
