Lava was seen emerging from a volcanic fissure in Iceland.

Aerial footage shows hot molten rocks seeping from the 2,297 ft (700 m) long crack, breaching the protective barrier north of Grindavik on April 1.

Large plumes of smoke can be seen billowing from the cracks, while fiery streams continue to expand as the intensity of the eruption increases.

Tremors are reportedly being felt at the southern end of the cattle corridor and north of Stora-Skogfell and Reykjanestana.

Police reported that more than 40 homes were evacuated amid the volcanic activity on the same day.

Experts believe these are triggered tremors, linked to tension release from activity at the Swimming Pool Row.

Authorities are on high alert as lava flows and earthquakes threaten the area.

The volcano had been dormant for 800 years. However, it has been spewing red-hot lava and smoke since December 2023, marking its seventh outbreak.

Iceland has more than 30 active volcanoes, making it a prime destination for volcano tourism in Europe.
