Glamorous Thai ladyboys attend annual military conscription to excuse themselves
Glamorous ladyboys dodged Thailand's annual military draft with medical documents proving their change of gender.
Arit Kannika, 23, a university student, furnished a doctor's diagnosis to prove her 'gender identity disorder' during the conscription in Udon Thani province in northeast Thailand, on April 1.
Most young men are required to attend the country's conscription events, but women - and those males who have undergone reassignment surgery - are exempted.
Footage shows the slender ladyboy, seen in the video in a white top that revealed her cleavage, presenting the paperwork to an officer. With manicured hands, the 'angelic' former man daintily patted the sweat off her arms while cooling herself off with a portable fan.
Arit said: 'This is the third time I am avoiding military service. For the past two years, I was only able to ask for deferment and rely on the goodwill of the officer. But this year, I'm ready because I secured medical documents. Legally I do not need to join.'
Another ladyboy, a waitress named, Thanet Saenlob, 21, said it was her first time participating in the compulsory military service.
She wore a black blouse and full face of make-up as she waited in line with other young men.
She said: 'This is my first year reporting for the draft, and I don't know any of the rules or regulations. If I am allowed to defer this year, then I will obtain a medical certificate for next year's draft. But if I am required to be drafted, then I will accept it.'
In Thailand, healthy men aged 21 and older are required to serve in the military. Some of them volunteer, while others are forced into service through a raffle-style draw usually held in early April.
University students are also exempted from national service in the military-obsessed and deeply protectionist nation, which played a minor role in the Vietnam War fighting Communists when it sided with America.
Transgender women who have undergone breast augmentation surgery are exempted from the draft. They can also produce medical documents proving a psychologist has diagnosed them with gender issues.
Ladyboys - people who are born men but live as the country's much-loved 'third gender' - may be classified under Category 2, which includes 'people who are not in perfect health but who do not have a disability' if they have a medical certificate.
Others without the proper documentation may be placed under Category 3, granting them a limited exemption from army service at the discretion of the recruiting officer.
This year's military draft will be held from April 1 to 12, except for April 6 which is a public holiday.
