Palm tree collapses on Thai beach narrowly missing tourist
This is the shocking moment a palm tree collapsed on a Thai beach, narrowly missing a tourist.
The woman was gathering her belongings after a family picnic when she was nearly struck by the uprooted tree during a drizzle at Bang Saen Beach in Saen Suk, Chonburi, on March 30.
CCTV footage shows the holidaymaker walking with an umbrella when she suddenly looked up and leapt aside just in time to avoid the falling tree.
A split second later, the tree crashed down exactly where she had been standing.
She reportedly did not sustain any serious injuries from the incident.
Local media said that the soil where the tree stood had weakened over time due to rainfall, reducing its stability.
Thailand's eastern provinces are currently experiencing scattered thundershowers and isolated heavy rains.
