Spain: Spanish Police Seize Over 50 Kilograms of Cocaine Headed to UK
Madrid, Spain - April 02, 2025 National Police agents have intercepted over 50 kilograms of cocaine hidden in a truck bound for the United Kingdom. The seizure occurred in Madrid, where four individuals were arrested during the operation. The investigation into a criminal organization allegedly transporting drugs systematically from Spain to other countries began in early March. Initial inquiries revealed the group had secured a truck and driver for the shipment. The vehicle was spotted entering an industrial estate in Móstoles, Madrid, where private warehouses were illegally used to conceal cocaine in trucks over weekends when they were closed to the public. After an hour inside, the truck began its journey along the A-1 highway toward Burgos. It was accompanied by a “scout” vehicle and another for protection, aimed at ensuring the shipment’s safety. Police set up a checkpoint at a gas station in El Molar, Madrid, where the driver and his escorts stopped for a mandatory rest. Inspecting the truck’s cab, agents found a modified fuel tank concealing a sophisticated compartment with 48 cocaine packages. The three individuals responsible for the transport were arrested on the spot. Simultaneously, police monitored the warehouses where the drugs were hidden. A search the next day led to the arrest of the facility’s caretaker, who lived on-site and aided in concealing the cocaine. The cocaine was destined for the UK, with potential profits exceeding 1.5 million euros for the organization. The group had purchased vegetables and tomatoes in Almería to mask the drug transport. The detained individuals were key members of the network, and their arrests dismantled one of its operational hubs.
