HEBRON, PALESTINE - APRIL 3: Illegal Israeli settlers vandalized Palestinian lands and properties in the southern city of Hebron in the occupied West Bank on Thursday, Apr. 3. Eyewitnesses said that a group of illegal settlers used military equipment to destroy forests in the Al-Abid area, southwest of Hebron. Palestinian Center for Human Rights researcher and local resident Imad Abu Hawash said that attacks by illegal settlers have increased in the southern areas of the West Bank. He also added that illegal settlement construction on Palestinian lands have advanced rapidly. Abu Hawash said that in the first quarter of 2025, attacks by illegal settlers increased by 40% compared to the same period last year, especially in the southern Hebron. Israel’s ongoing military escalation in the occupied West Bank has killed at least 942 people and injured over 7,000 others since the outbreak of the Gaza war in October 2023, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry. The Israeli army has also launched a deadly offensive in the northern West Bank since January, killing more than 70 Palestinians and displacing thousands. The International Court of Justice declared Israel’s longstanding occupation of Palestinian territories illegal in July. It demanded the evacuation of all settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
