Tourist helps farmers unload rice onto barge in Vietnam
This is the amusing moment a tourist helped farmers unload bags of rice onto a barge in Vietnam.
German holidaymaker Arne spotted the workers struggling with the freshly harvested crops in Can Tho on February 28.
The kind visitor quickly stepped in and carried the bags on his shoulder to unload the rice into the dry bulk cargo vessel in the Lung Ngoc Hoang Nature Reserve.
Footage shows two workers placing a 50kg bag on his shoulder. He then carefully carried it towards the ship, balancing on a narrow plank.
Another farmer could be seen supporting him from behind as they cautiously inch toward the barge. Upon reaching the boat, they untied the knot securing the sack and poured the rice onto the platform.
Arne said: 'It was an incredible experience to step into the farmers' shoes during harvest season. Their work is tough, and I truly admire their dedication.'
Can Tho is found along the Mekong Delta, which is known as Vietnam's 'rice bowl' and accounts for more than 50 per cent of the country's total rice production. The fertile soil and climate make it ideal for rice farming, which remains a vital source of livelihood for millions of locals.
