This is a heart-warming moment a mum recorded her son instinctively caring for his non-verbal autistic sister.

Samantha Young, 30, secretly recorded her children to see how they interacted when no one was watching.

And the mum-of-two was left in tears watching the love and care between her son Wolf, four, and her daughter Nina, five,

A sweet video shows Wolf sharing his chocolate with Nina, comforting her when she cries and gently tucking her under a blanket.

The most touching moment came when Nina, who rarely engages with others turned to give her little brother a kiss.

Samantha, who works for the Ministry of Justice in Hull, Yorkshire, said: "I knew he was kind but watching it back made me so emotional."

"He shared his chocolate with her, wiped her tears when she cried and then tucked her in under a blanket."

"He's like a little protector. "

"He's always looking out for her. "

Nina was diagnosed with autism at 10 months old and struggles with social interaction.

While she typically doesn't engage with other children, the young boy has never given up trying to connect with her.

Samantha said: "He will bring her food and drinks, try to play with her and make sure she's comfortable even though she can't always respond."

"He always asks me ‘Mummy, why doesn't Nina talk? Why doesn't she play?' But he never gives up."

"He just instinctively knows what she needs and tries to help her however he can."

Samantha hopes the video will encourage more awareness of autism and the vital role that siblings play in supporting their neurodivergent brothers and sisters.

She said: "We always teach autistic kids how to interact with the world, but really, the world needs to learn how to interact with them."

"Wolf is proof that kindness and patience can make all the difference."
