This is the terrifying moment a six-year-old boy narrowly avoids being run over after rushing out in front of a car without looking.

The incident occurred in Cherepovets, Vologda Oblast, Russia, on Monday, February 10.

Dramatic footage shows the youngster walking with an adult when he suddenly runs off and rushes out right in front of the oncoming vehicle, whose driver slams the brakes.

The boy, apparently realising the danger at the last second, drops to the ground as the car stops just over him.

It remains unclear if he was hit, but the vehicle reverses, and he promptly gets to his feet as the adult with him apparently gives the motorist a telling off.

The child reportedly sustained minor injuries and sought medical attention later. Both parties left the scene, and no police report was filed.
