This is the shocking moment a truck swerved and overturned to avoid hitting a motorist at a crossing in China.

Dramatic footage shows the vehicle losing control and tipping over while attempting to avoid a motorcycle on the road in Zheijang.

Authorities said the truck driver appeared distracted, possibly looking at a phone, before noticing the red light.

A sudden brake caused the vehicle to skid and flip over, with the motorcycle narrowly avoiding impact on April 4.

The Zhejiang Traffic Police said: 'Driving while looking at your phone, looking up to see a red light, sudden braking, and losing control.'

Officials emphasised the dangers of distracted driving and urged drivers to avoid such behaviour and remain attentive behind the wheel to prevent accidents.
