Ash spewed from Kanlaon Volcano's summit in the Philippines.

Timelapse footage shows the volcano emitting thick plumes, which rose 1,969 ft (600 m) above the crater in Canlaon.

The event lasted for 102 minutes on April 3. Alert Level 3 remains in effect due to ongoing volcanic activity.

On December 9, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) raised the alert level to 3 for Negros Island, citing observed magma movement.

Kanlaon is one of the 24 active volcanoes in the country.

The Philippines, an archipelago of over 7,000 islands, lies within the Pacific Ring of Fire, a region known for frequent volcanic eruptions and earthquakes.
