Phoenix, United States - April 04, 2025 04/04/2025 02:30 am (GMT-0700) PHOENIX, Ariz. – Arizona DPS troopers, Phoenix police officers and Phoenix Fire Department crews responded to reports of a single-vehicle collision on westbound I-10 at 79th Avenue. Officers and troopers arrived to find a pickup truck on its roof in the center median under the 79th Avenue overpass. Phoenix Fire Department personnel arrived and transported the driver of the pickup to a local trauma center. The driver's condition is unknown. Troopers quickly learned that the pickup truck collided with the barrier wall on the overpass while exiting from the westbound I-10 via the 79th Avenue HOV off-ramp. The pickup launched through the concrete barrier and through a large portion of chain-link fence before falling onto the freeway below. The collision stripped approximately 100 feet of chain link off the overpass, leaving it scattered across all westbound lanes of the I-10. According to ADOT, multiple passing vehicles sustained damage after striking the chain link. The collision resulted in a hard closure for westbound I-10, forcing all westbound traffic to exit at 75th Avenue. ADOT and troopers worked throughout the morning to clear the fence and other debris from the roadway. The westbound lanes were re-opened around 4:30 a.m.
