This is the impressive moment a double amputee climbed sacred mountain steps using only his hands.

Wang Jiade, 30, successfully scaled the top of Mount Tai in Shandong, China, on March 9.

He reportedly took 21 hours to reach the 5,000ft summit, with fellow holidaymakers cheering him on.

Footage shows Wang, wearing black gloves, hoisting himself up the flights of stairs using his arms.

Upon reaching the summit, he proudly raised his arms in triumph before removing his cap and throwing it to the ground.

Wang Jiade reportedly lost his legs in an accident at 19, but it never stopped him from doing what he loves.

He said: 'It was devastating to realise I could no longer walk, but I thought, I am still alive for a reason, so I will do what I want despite this disability.'

The Five Sacred Mountains of China—Mount Tai, Mount Hua in Shaanxi, Mount Heng in Hunan, Mount Heng in Shanxi, and Mount Song in Henan—have been sites of imperial pilgrimage and are among the most renowned mountains in Chinese history.
