VAN, TÜRKİYE - APRIL 5, 2025: Sahabettin Gun, a snowboarder on Mount Artos in eastern Türkiye, escaped an avalanche on his own on Saturday, April 5. The snowboarder, who had spent four hours reaching the top of Mount Artos, was descending a steep slope when the avalanche began. Anadolu's drone captured Gun's escape from the avalanche after being dragged for a while. Gun said, “There was a steep slope on the way down. As we were descending, jumping, the snow broke and the avalanche started. I was caught in the middle of the avalanche. I threw myself to the right side and got away. I stayed in the snow for a while. It dragged me 50-60 meters. But I didn't panic. It wasn't a big problem, but we were a little scared. My friends were a little scared, too. The twist of this situation is this, we’re living through such things.” Located in Gevas, Van, Mount Artos integrates natural ski trails into the landscape at 3550m above sea level.
