INTERVIEW WITH AHMED ZERVAL, MOROCCAN DOCTOR WHO WORKED IN GAZA STRIP FOR 6 WEEKSRABAT, MOROCCO - APRIL 6: Thousands of people took to the streets in the Moroccan capital city of Rabat on Sunday, Apr. 6, to protest Israel's genocide in Gaza. Following the call of various civil society organizations, thousands of Moroccans began gathering in Bab El-Had Square in Rabat from the early hours of the morning. From there, the demonstrators marched towards the Moroccan Parliament, carrying Palestinian flags and photographs of Gazans killed by Israel. The demonstrators also chanted slogans such as "Stop the massacre; open the borders", "Stop the Israeli genocide in Gaza", and "Shame on those who want to normalize with Israel!" The demonstrators reacted to the inability of the international community to stop Israel's war crimes against the Palestinian people. The demonstrators condemned Western countries that support Israel and Arab countries that have initiated the normalization process. Last weekend, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed to escalate attacks on Gaza as efforts are underway to implement US President Donald Trump's plan to displace Palestinians from the enclave. Nearly 50,700 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza in a brutal Israeli onslaught since October 2023, most of them women and children. The International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants last November for Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
