Pune, India - April 05, 2025 A major fire broke out at Parekh Wada late in the evening, prompting a swift response from the fire department. The incident occurred in Parekh Wada, Nana Peth, Pune, western India, on April 5. The visuals from the scene show intense flames leaping out of the building, with thick smoke present, though the fire is so fierce that it’s the bright red blaze that dominates the frame. Firefighters are seen battling the flames in a coordinated effort while a large crowd has gathered at the site, watching the situation unfold. Fire Chief Devendra Potphode is also seen at the location, accompanied by several fire personnel actively engaged in the operation. Nilesh Mahajan, a leading fireman, control room, Pune fire department, Maharashtra, stated that a major fire broke out near Ram Mandir in Nana Peth on Saturday at 8:08 PM. The old three-storey wooden building was already engulfed in flames by the time fire personnel arrived, prompting an immediate call for reinforcements. In total, 10 fire engines, 4 water tankers, two emergency rescue vehicles, and five additional tankers from the vehicle depot were deployed to the scene. Firefighters parked vehicles on three sides of the building and began dousing the fire while ensuring that no occupants were inside. Due to heavy smoke, nearby residents were evacuated to safety. A gas cylinder was also safely removed from the premises, preventing a potential explosion. Firefighters worked to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading further. Narrow roads and ongoing construction work in the busy market area posed significant challenges during the operation. Fire Chief Devendra Potphode, along with five officers and around 60 to 70 personnel, supervised the efforts on-site. No casualties were reported, and the cause of the fire is yet to be determined.
