A Russian rescue team joined the earthquake relief effort in Myanmar.

The emergency responders searched more than 12,000 square metres across 10 collapsed buildings in a single day, looking for survivors in Naypyidaw on April 5.

Footage shows rescuers drilling through the rubble to search for individuals trapped inside.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia said: 'Despite 40 degree Celsius heat and aftershocks, they keep working, using drones and heavy gear to save lives. Russian doctors treated 137 people and performed 43 surgeries in field hospitals.'

The 7.7 magnitude earthquake struck Myanmar on March 28, around 12:50 pm local time. More than 5,000 are believed to have died and many more are injured.

In neighbouring Thailand, dozens of people were killed when an office block under construction collapsed in the capital Bangkok.

Search-and-rescue operations remain ongoing in both countries, with numerous nations sending assistance and emergency responders to help with the disaster.
