The Rice-Blowing Competition is an ancient folk game, taking place in some village festivals in the Northern Delta of Vietnam. It is just a folk game, but each locality has a variety of ways to play, styles of play, and different costumes. But the costumes will carry the strong Vietnamese national identity.

In the video, the contestants are village girls wearing traditional costumes called "AO TU THAN" divided into 4 teams, each team consists of 3 village girls and has different tasks. 1 person carries 2 clay pots on his shoulder, the other 2 people follow behind holding a burning bamboo torch. The rules of the competition are: each team goes around the yard in a circle for 20 minutes, while the 2 people have the task of holding the torch following the person carrying the clay pot with rice and water inside to cook the rice within 20 minutes.

After 20 minutes, the team that cooks the rice, without it being mushy, not dry, and the rice is fragrant and delicious, will win. All the audience and judges will enjoy rice to judge which team will win.

In each locality, there may be differences in costumes, in the order of progress, in the way of judging... but they are all the same in the sound of drums, cheers; in the intense competition; in the bustling atmosphere; in the attraction, the appeal of the competition...

Video was filmed at the Chuong Village Festival in Thanh Oai District, Hanoi City, Vietnam on April 7
