A helicopter rescue team saved hikers in Italy.

The Lombardy Fire Department's Flight Unit carried out a double retrieval operation in the rugged mountains of Castelveccana in Varese on April 6.

The team used the Drago 166 aircraft to rescue a solo female hiker, 32, who had lost her way in the area.

She was swiftly located and airlifted to safety.

Moments later, a group of four hikers who were stranded on a rock face at Dosso del Liro, Como, were rescued and brought back to a nearby city.

Footage shows one of the crew members being hoisted alongside the adventurous holidaymaker.

No injuries were reported from the incident.
