This is the shocking moment a distracted motorcycle rider crashed straight into an oncoming truck in India.

CCTV footage shows the reckless motorist and his pillion passenger driving directly into the highway while avoiding a tractor in front, crashing forcefully into the lorry.

The two were thrown from their two-wheelers in Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh, on Monday, April 6.

The truck then halted as bystanders promptly assisted the pair, who were left lying on the road.

Reports said the pair survived the collision but were admitted to the hospital with injuries.

India has one of the highest rates of road accidents in the world, with thousands of fatalities and injuries reported each year.
