VARIOUS OF RUSH AT NEWARK PORT BEING SEEN SCRIPT A surge in activity was seen at U.S. ports on Tuesday, Apr. 8, just hours before new 104% tariffs on Chinese goods were set to take effect. President Donald Trump's global tariffs on China, Japan, South Korea and others have come into effect from Wednesday early morning as he imposed 104% duties on Chinese goods. The so-called reciprocal tariffs on imports to the US come into effect from 12.01am Eastern Time (0401GMT). As for China, the rate of reciprocal tariff was initially 34%, however on Tuesday White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt said that now there will be 104% tariffs on China.
