The Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) crew saved a pair of tourists stranded by a rising tide in England.

The duo was trapped on slippery rocks on Friday, April 4, prompting assistance from the West Kirby RNLI team.

Within 10 minutes, a lifeboat was deployed and headed towards the islands.

The emergency responders found the outdoor enthusiasts stranded between Middle Eye and Little Eye, surrounded by deep gullies and slick rocks. After failed attempts from the west, they navigated around Hilbre Island's north end, approaching from the east to rescue them.

Footage shows the authorities approaching the distressed holidaymakers and assisting them onto the watercraft. They were brought safely to Sandy Lane, where the Coastguard Response Team awaited.

Andy Brown, the Launch Authority, said: 'Thankfully, our crew was at the station when the call came. This timing let us act fast and keep the casualties calm until help arrived.

'Check tide times on the Wirral Council website before visiting the islands. Leave three hours before high tide and carry a way to call for help.'

The duo required no medical attention following the ordeal.

The RNLI saves lives at sea through its 24-hour search and rescue services around the UK and Ireland. With 238 lifeboat stations and over 240 lifeguard units across the UK and the Channel Islands, its volunteers are dedicated to maritime safety.
