Drunk tourist causes concern with bizarre rampage through street in Phuket
A drunk tourist sparked alarm as he chased locals through streets in a bizarre rampage in Thailand.
The holidaymaker, seen in the video wearing airpods and a black shirt, was reportedly found loitering and rambling in an alley in Phuket.
A concerned resident said he approached the man to ask if he was alright but the aggressive tourist was said to have suddenly chased him near the entrance of the Khao Rang Viewpoint tourist spot, on April 8.
CCTV footage shows the pair running across the street, with the visitor yelling and laughing maniacally behind him. He stumbled but quickly stood up before knocking on the locals' doors, prompting them to call the police.
He was later seen shadowboxing and flipping the villagers off before walking away from the scene.
The young Thai man who found the tourist said: 'I came across the tourist, and he was clearly drunk, reeked of alcohol, and yelling nonsense. He tried to barge into someone else's home to disturb them. When I asked him to stop, he chased after me. He ran quite fast and he would've hit me if I hadn't gotten away.'
The once-pristine island of Phuket has been marred by over-tourism as the Thai government implements a visa-free scheme to boost revenue following the barren pandemic years.
The island saw 800,000 foreign visitors last year alone.
