Housewife steps on snake without realising
This is the shocking moment a housewife accidentally stepped on a cobra twice as it slithered on her front porch.
Viriyaporn Aom had just returned home from the market when the snake rested among her family's slippers lying by the door of her front porch in Bangkok, Thailand.
CCTV footage shows Viriyaporn unlocking her home and stepping on the juvenile reptile.
The resident walked out again moments later to bring the laundry inside the house when she tread on the serpent the second time.
Shockingly, the venomous animal did not retaliate but it raised its head at the back of her heel.
Viriyaporn finally spotted the cobra when she was about to return inside the house with the clothes basket.
Rescuers were called to the property and caught the baby snake before it was released.
The housewife was unharmed as well as the snake.
She said: 'I stepped on a cobra without realizing it. Luckily, I didn't get bitten.'
Researchers found that 7,000 people are treated for snake bites each year in Thailand. Suchai Suteparuk from the Division of Toxicology at Chulalongkorn University reported that 30 of those die, with cobras being the biggest killer.
