The dust storm - originating from neighboring arid regions - began in the early morning hours and intensified in some districts, coating vehicles, buildings, and historical structures in a thick layer of sand. In Mardin’s Artuklu district, windows, balconies, and parked cars were covered in dust, while intermittent rain mixed with dust particles, creating muddy conditions. Local authorities warned residents, particularly the elderly, children, and those with respiratory conditions, to avoid unnecessary outdoor exposure due to poor air quality. Experts predict the dust transport will persist until Thursday. In some areas, light rainfall following the dust storm resulted in muddy precipitation, leaving cars and streets covered in grime.
