ISRAELI POLICE ARRESTING PROTESTERSJERUSALEM - APRIL 9: Hundreds of Israelis who gathered in Jerusalem on Wednesday, Apr. 9, to demand the release of captives held by Palestinian factions in Gaza protested Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his policies of avoiding negotiations and ceasefire. Demonstrators gathered in Paris Square in West Jerusalem to demand a complete end to the war and return of Israeli captives in Gaza to their homes. Israeli police detained seven demonstrators who chanted slogans against Prime Minister Netanyahu and his government. Israel estimates that 59 hostages remain in Gaza, including 24 believed alive, while over 9,500 Palestinians are languishing in Israeli prisons, facing torture, starvation and medical neglect according to Palestinian and Israeli human rights reports. More than 50,700 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza in a brutal Israeli onslaught since October 2023, most of them women and children. The International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants last November for Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
