On April 3rd in Chongqing, Mr. Li captured a delightful moment while waiting at a red light: a leaping kitten animation appeared on the taillight of the AITO M8 electric vehicle in front of him.

Mr. Li said that when he first saw the little cat jumping on the taillight, he almost thought he was seeing things—it was just too adorable.

According to AITO (Wenjie), this feature is powered by Huawei’s xPixel intelligent headlight technology, which uses a high-precision LED matrix to achieve pixel-level control. When users select the “Jumping Kitten” animation via the vehicle’s system, the taillight displays a 30-frames-per-second animated sequence of a cat leaping. The light variations mimic a fluffy texture and fluid motion, making the animation irresistibly cute.

AITO also revealed that future OTA updates will expand the taillight’s animation library and eventually allow users to upload their own custom designs—enabling every driver to create a personalized “light signature.”

Automotive industry analyst Wang Ming noted that the M8’s interactive taillight feature goes beyond the traditional role of car lights as mere safety indicators. It explores new dimensions of emotional expression and social interaction. “This design not only boosts user engagement but also turns the car into a vessel of emotion, aligning perfectly with younger consumers’ desire for personalization and playful design.”
