Rescue teams are continuing to search for victims who are still trapped under building rubble after the earthquake in Bangkok.

Footage shows volunteers scouring the mountain of concrete slabs and steel bars at the collapsed State Audit Office in the Thai capital on April 9.

Bangkok governor Chadchart Sittipunt said heavy machinery were continuing to remove rubble from the scene, where 26,000 cubic metres of debris have already been cleared.

He said: 'There is always hope for survivors. The machinery is running nonstop. As for the rescue officers, the government is ensuring they are fully cared for with food, rest areas, air-conditioned sleeping quarters, and strict hygiene measures. They must wash their hands and use disinfectants regularly, because the zone is like a city with hundreds of people. Cleanliness and hygiene are essential.'

Authorities said they have recovered 23 bodies and 14 body parts at the site.

A 7.7 magnitude quake struck Myanmar on March 28, around 12:50 pm local time. More than 3,600 have died and some 5,000 were injured.

Retrieval operations were ongoing in both distressed countries, with numerous nations sending assistance and emergency responders to help with the disaster.
