DEMOLISHED HOMEWEST BANK, PALESTINE - APR 10, 2025: Israeli forces demolished three Palestinian homes in the occupied West Bank on Thursday, claiming they were built without permits, according to the official Palestinian news agency WAFA. In the village of Shufa southeast of Tulkarem in the northern West Bank, soldiers razed the home of Ibrahim Derubi without prior warning, using two bulldozers under heavy military protection. Two additional demolitions occurred in the same area. One of the homes, a two-story, 220-square-meter residence owned by Ibrahim Mohammed Ata al-Harash, was reportedly ready for occupancy. The third structure, still under construction, belonged to Ataullah Ahmed al-Harash. The Israeli authorities maintain a policy of demolishing the homes of Palestinians accused of attacking Israeli soldiers and settlers, a practice widely condemned as a form of collective punishment prohibited under international law, as it often displaces entire families. Tensions have been high in the West Bank since the Israeli war on Gaza, killing at least 947 Palestinians and injuring over 7,000 others since October 2023, according to Palestinian figures. In July 2024, the International Court of Justice declared Israel's decades-long occupation of Palestinian land illegal and demanded the evacuation of all existing settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
