Phoenix, United States - April 10, 2025 04/10/2025 12:32 am (GMT-0700) PHOENIX, Ariz. – Phoenix police officers and operators from the PPD Special Assignments Unit (SAU/SWAT) converged on an apartment complex near 39th Avenue and Hazelwood Street shortly after 12:00 a.m. Details surrounding the initial call for service are unclear. Officers and SAU units surrounded a ground-floor apartment unit and issued several commands, ordering the occupants to exit the residence. Per witnesses at the scene, SAU operators deployed pepper balls and 40mm less-lethal munitions towards the apartment. One male occupant was taken into custody by SAU operators and removed from the apartment. The Phoenix Fire Department was dispatched to the scene, and the male arrestee was transported to a local hospital for precautionary evaluation due to minor injuries sustained from the less-lethal munitions.
