Truck plunges from elevated road in Cixi, Zhejiang—vehicle mangled, but driver miraculously survives
t around 7:10 a.m. on April 10th in Cixi, Ningbo, Zhejiang Province, a red box truck plunged off the Shenglu Elevated Expressway due to driver error, resulting in a dramatic accident. Fortunately, the driver was rescued with no life-threatening injuries.
Surveillance footage shows the truck traveling southbound on the elevated road when it suddenly veered off course, crashing through several construction barriers, crash barrels, and a concrete guardrail before falling through a gap in the bridge and landing in the greenery below.
The impact severely deformed both the truck’s cab and cargo compartment, scattering parcels all over the scene and leaving a trail of destruction.
Emergency services, including fire, traffic police, and medical teams, rushed to the scene. Firefighters used hydraulic rescue tools to pry open the crushed cab. After a tense 30-minute operation, the driver was successfully pulled out and handed over to paramedics for transport to the hospital.
According to the Cixi Public Security Bureau, the driver, a 25-year-old man named Zhang, lost control of the vehicle due to improper handling. Thankfully, he sustained no life-threatening injuries, and no other casualties were reported. Alcohol use has been ruled out, and further investigation is ongoing.
