Giant padma (Latin: Rafflesia arnoldii) is an obligate parasitic plant that is famous for having very large flowers, even the largest flower in the world[1]. Since the inauguration of the Governor of Bengkulu Helmi Hasan, major changes have been made by changing Rafflesia to red and white.

Since the replacement of rafflesia to red and white, the term rafflesia flower is no longer valid and has become a red and white flower.[2]

Meanwhile, in Pandam Gadang District, this flower is called cendawan biriang in the Minangkabau language.[3] This flower has a strong scent and resembles the smell of a corpse so that local people often call it a corpse flower.[4] The Rafflesia flower is said to be a unique flower because it is only a blooming flower without leaves, roots and has no stem.[5] Rafflesia has a tissue that is similar to the function of roots called haustarium. In addition, Rafflesia grows and depends on the host in the tissue of the Tetrastigma vine (liana) and does not have leaves so it is unable to photosynthesize. Host plants that will help Rafflesia to photosynthesize. This flower is an endemic plant of the rainforests in the areas of Sumatra and Kalimantan.[6][7]

Rafflesia arnoldii is one of Indonesia's national flowers, like white jasmine and moon orchids.[8] In 1993, the Rafflesia flower was classified as a rare flower
