Supporters held a vigil for a 'murdered' transgender activist in Colombia.

Sara Millerey Gonzalez, 32, was brutally killed in Bello, Antioquia, on April 4.

The crime sparked national outrage, with demands for protection and justice for apparent hate crimes against people based on their choices.

Footage shows protesters gathering in solidarity to mourn Sara's death in Bogota, Colombia, on April 9.

They can be seen holding lit candles during the event.

The victim was reportedly beaten, with her limbs broken, and her body discarded in a river.

She was reportedly rescued by bystanders and taken to the hospital, but she succumbed to her injuries, which were worsened by exposure to contaminated water.

The mayor of Bello announced a 50-million-peso (approximately 8,833.09 GBP) reward for information leading to the suspects.

Caribe Afirmativo, an advocacy group, said Sara is one of 13 people murdered in Antioquia this year alone due to their sexual identities.
