In a sequence recorded by the home's security camera, they were chatting and organizing their things when they had to act quickly to avoid being victims of a random robbery. The footage shows the minutes before the attempted robbery, when a man, a woman, and a boy were talking on the sidewalk outside their home while unloading things from the trunk of a Peugeot 307 parked on the sidewalk. The man was the first to open the door and enter the house, followed by the boy, to whom the woman had handed a package that could easily have been a plate of food. The woman remained alone on the sidewalk for only a few seconds, shouldering a mate bag, a bag, and other belongings, while looking around as a precaution. The simple act of being aware of her surroundings allowed the woman to notice when a car suddenly parked right next to her own vehicle: by the time the three criminals got out, she had already closed the trunk and the front door. The woman's reflexes were so efficient that when one of the three criminals rushed to her front door, she couldn't open it, but had to settle for searching the Peugeot. And yet, she was left wanting to steal the vehicle because its owner had taken the keys. Unable to complete their random robbery, the three criminals got back into the car waiting for them in the middle of the street and drove off, leaving a terrifying scene.
