On the morning of March 28, 2025, Officer Roberts was patrolling the parking lot of La Quinta Inn at 200 Meline Drive in Edmond, Oklahoma, when he located a white 2007 Dodge Caravan that had been reported stolen out of Oklahoma City. Dispatch confirmed the vehicle was listed in the NCIC system and advised the suspect, A-Nicole Nisly, had felony warrants out of Nebraska, including assault and probation violation. Officer Roberts recalled seeing the vehicle the day before, occupied by a woman who matched the suspect description.

As Officer Roberts approached, he observed movement inside the van and blocked it in with his patrol vehicle. He gave verbal commands for the suspect to exit, but Nisly refused and reversed into his patrol unit. After another officer arrived, the window was broken to gain access. Nisly then threw a cup of urine at Officer Roberts and the assisting officer before brandishing a metal object in a threatening manner. Officer Roberts deployed a Taser, and Nisly was taken into custody without further incident.

Medical personnel treated Nisly at the scene for a hand injury and transported her to the hospital for Taser probe removal and clearance for jail. She was later booked on multiple charges, including possession of a stolen vehicle, assault on a police officer, obstruction, and the out-of-state warrants. Officer Roberts initiated the department's exposure protocol due to contact with bodily fluids. The stolen vehicle was impounded.
