Santa Fe, United States - April 08, 2025 Two people were rescued from the back of a U-Haul truck after a man trapped them inside and led police on a chase in Santa Fe, authorities said. The man and woman were helping Stacy Walker, 50, clean the truck when he suddenly locked them inside, police reported. Walker slammed the rear door shut and drove recklessly, throwing the two victims around in the back, according to the Santa Fe Police Department. Police were alerted at 8 a.m. on April 8 by a caller requesting a welfare check after hearing banging from the truck’s storage area. A sheriff’s deputy spotted the U-Haul, but Walker fled when the deputy tried to make contact, police said. A Santa Fe officer then attempted to stop the truck, but Walker ran a red light, sparking a pursuit, authorities stated. The chase involved drones, multiple agencies, and tire deflation devices as Walker sped through highways and a neighborhood. Walker stopped on a sidewalk after most of the truck’s tires were deflated, and police rescued the trapped man and woman. Medics evaluated the victims; the man reported back pain from being tossed around during the chase, police said. Walker was arrested and faces charges including kidnapping and aggravated assault on a peace officer, authorities noted. During the pursuit, Walker allegedly veered toward a deputy and a police car, according to the police report. Court records on April 10 did not list information about Walker’s defense attorney.
