Operational since 1995, the mosque organizes iftar meals primarily for vulnerable groups and local Muslims. Imam Dr. Nader Akkad emphasized Ramadan's spirit of unity, noting the mosque welcomes diverse attendees, including students, migrants, and Italians experiencing their first Ramadan. The mosque serves 400-500 iftar meals nightly, with surplus food repurposed for suhoor to prevent waste. Imam Akkad highlighted the dual joys of Ramadan mentioned in Islamic tradition: the communal iftar experience and divine reward for fasting. With Eid al-Fitr approaching, the mosque – Europe's largest – prepares for tens of thousands of worshippers by scheduling multiple prayer sessions to accommodate the crowds. An Egyptian student, Mahmoud, described the mosque as a surrogate family during his studies abroad, while Italian visitor Marco, a Christian, praised the interfaith harmony he discovered through Muslim friends. Both highlighted the mosque's welcoming atmosphere and spiritual resonance.
