A serene moment on the northern coast of Mauritius turned into a frightening ordeal for Olha Solod.

While pausing to take a photo among the rocks, she was caught off guard by powerful, unexpected waves that knocked her down and dragged her underwater across sharp rocks.

The incident left her with deep scrapes and internal bleeding in her foot, rendering her unable to walk for two weeks. Fortunately, quick assistance from local friends and attentive care from Mauritian doctors have helped her on the road to recovery.

In the North of Mauritius island exploring the beauties of local flora to take a picture I ended up wounded and unable to walk for 2 weeks. I did not expect that as the ocean seemed quite calm. It hit me hard and pushed down, I went under water and could not control my moves, so got scratched by the sharp rocks. Let it be a reminder for everyone to be really careful around water. My local friends were there and helped me to get out and brought to the closest emergency room. I am grateful to Mauritius doctors who took it really seriously and did everything possible for me to feel safe and recover, we did an X-ray, there was no breaks or fractures, but the hit cause an internal bleeding in my foot it got swollen and made me stay in bed for 2 weeks. I hope this video will bring extra awareness which I lacked at that moment.
