Phoenix, United States - April 11, 2025 04/11/2025 11:01 pm (GMT-0700) PHOENIX, Ariz. – Officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop on a Mercedes-Benz in the area of 7th Avenue and South Mountain Avenue. The reason for the initial traffic stop has yet to be confirmed. The driver did not yield to officers, and a felony flight was established. The Phoenix Police helicopter and officers from the Phoenix Police Tactical Support Bureau responded to the area to assist. The air unit quickly acquired a visual of the vehicle and began tracking it while the ground units disengaged and began following at a safe distance. The vehicle eventually entered onto the I-17 and transitioned northbound. The car exited Bethy Home Road eastbound from the I-17. A TSB unit approached the suspect vehicle from behind and deployed a Grappler Police Bumper. The Grappler was successful and brought the vehicle to an abrupt stop. Several TSB and patrol units quickly converged on the vehicle. The suspect exited the vehicle and began fleeing on foot before being taken to the ground by the officers. As additional officers arrived, they observed a female passenger beginning to exit the car. Officers issued commands to the passenger before detaining her. Phoenix Fire Department personnel were called to evaluate minor injuries the driver sustained while attempting to flee officers on foot. The suspect was transported to a local area hospital for further evaluation.
