Family's maid 'caught on camera stealing jewellery' from home in Spain

A maid who was allegedly caught on camera stealing from a home has been arrested in Spain.

The domestic worker, 60, allegedly took jewellery and cash worth a total of 30,000 euros from five properties in Totana.

CCTV footage shows the cleaning lady appearing to rummage through a bedside table before pocketing the items in her shirt.

One of her customers reported missing some valuable items and linked the thefts to her when others also came forward with similar issues.

Police investigated and found there was no force used in the break-ins that were reported, which led them to focus on the worker as she had easy access, the affected homes.

The investigation traced the stolen jewels to shops in Totana where the elderly maid allegedly sold them.

She was taken into custody and faces charges of five counts of theft and burglary.
