Novi Pazar, Serbia - April 12, 2025 western city of Novi Pazar on Saturday (April 12) in the latest of a long-running series of demonstrations against the government. As well as gathering and chanting in the city centre, protesters poured and sprayed red paint outside a local police station, which one protest leader said was a reaction against excessive use of force by police earlier in the day. The protests, which were triggered by the deaths of 16 people killed by a canopy collapse at a railway station in Serbiaɥs second city of Novi Sad, have been a major challenge to President Aleksandar Vucic and his ruling Serbian Progressive Party (SNS).
