Representatives from Türkiye, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, and North Macedonia discussed strategies to enhance stability and prosperity in the region. Türkiye's Deputy Foreign Minister and Director for EU Affairs Mehmet Kemal Bozay highlighted the significance of regional solidarity, noting the support Balkan countries provided following the February 6 earthquakes. He stressed the need to retain skilled young professionals in the region through digital and green economic initiatives, while moving beyond historical divisions. Montenegro's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ervin Ibrahimović reaffirmed his country's commitment to EU accession by 2028, coinciding with its 30th independence anniversary, emphasizing the value of positive neighborly relations. Serbia's Foreign Minister Marko Đurić described EU integration as a common regional objective, noting that his country's progress depends on maintaining good relations with all eight neighboring states. He pointed to the importance of addressing legacy issues from the 1990s, combating corruption, and developing infrastructure. The Foreign Minister of Bosnia and Herzegovina Elmedin Konaković identified corruption eradication as a prerequisite for addressing other priorities and called for joint efforts to manage migration flows, stressing that historical conflicts should not obstruct future cooperation. North Macedonia's Foreign Minister Timčho Mucunski expressed appreciation for the assistance provided by Türkiye and regional partners following last month's tragic fire incident. The discussion, moderated by the Secretary General of the Regional Cooperation Council, concluded with broad agreement on the necessity of economic integration, youth-focused policies, and continued progress toward EU membership as fundamental pillars for the region's stability and development.
